The Traveler’s Guide to Responsible Travel in Detroit

As one of Detroit’s top eco-friendly hotels, going green is not just our mantra; it’s a way of life. At Trumbull and Porter Hotel, we’re committed to doing our part towards a more sustainable city. Because we know you care about our up-and-coming city too, our responsible travel practices allow you to join us in making a difference.

Take the Detroit Bikes at Trumbull and Porter for a Spin

As you know, it’s our mission to promote area businesses through partnerships with Detroit and Michigan’s best. Our new fleet of bicycles was built by local custom bike company, Detroit Bikes. They’re available to all our guests for rental. We’ve already given them a try and can say without question – this is the best way to really experience the area! Not a biker? No problem. It’s just a short walk to the best downtown Detroit area attractions like Comerica Park, Ford Field or Joe Louis Arena.

Ride the MUNI

With the Fort & Cabacier DDOT bus stop, just .5 miles from our door, Detroit destinations are a quick, bus, M-1 rail, or Uber ride away. Like many things in Detroit, the public transportation system has plans for a major overhaul. You can read all about the projected changes here. Sustainable Transit is one way to support a better Detroit, helping both the environment and local economy.

Shop Local

If you’re looking to escape large retailers, you can shop local just steps from our door. We couldn’t be prouder of our neighborhood, Corktown. Down the street, on the corner of Bagley and Trumbull, the Bagley Trumbull Market building features born-in-Detroit businesses like the Bearded Lady barbershop, the Farmer’s Hand grocery store and trendy Mama Coo’s vintage shop. Don’t take our word for it though, come explore the neighborhood and discover a local gem of your own.

Of course, at the end of any ‘shop-till-you-drop’ day, a relaxing room at Trumbull and Porter is waiting. Come in, put your feet up, and relive the best memories of the day.
